Linda Ozawa Olds to run Marathon and forms Local Team Jamba

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — In the small college town of San Luis Obispo in 1990, a company was established on Chorro Street to promote healthy living in a delicious way — JAMBA JUICE. SLO native, Cal Poly University grad Linda Ozawa Olds was an instrumental force in helping Kirk Perron, the founder, grow the company from its early roots, when it was originally known as the Juice Club, into the iconic, well-known brand it is today. Linda’s role in the company shifted from Jamba Marketing in San Francisco to becoming a Jamba franchisee on the Central Coast in 2000. Linda and her husband Jeff Olds, proud franchise owners of Jamba Juice locations in San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, Arroyo Grande, Paso Robles and Bakersfield, have registered to run the marathon, have formed “Team Jamba” to encourage their employees and customers to run with them and have become Official Sponsors of the San Luis Obispo Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K races.

According to Linda Ozawa Olds, “The choices were easy. I made the move to the Central Coast to raise our young family in a beautiful and active community while continuing to support the Jamba brand that we both love. It was an easy decision as we were coming home! And the choice to support the San Luis Marathon feels good with both the head and the heart! It’s the perfect match with our brand philosophy. Our company culture supports a healthy, active lifestyle and it’s important for us to be leaders in encouraging exercise (as well as nutrition), and giving back in meaningful ways. We’re extremely excited to sponsor this event in the town where Jamba Juice was born and to support both athletes and survivors. My father lost his battle with cancer and it’s also another way for me to celebrate him.”

Jamba Juice San Luis Obispo will be providing each competitor in the marathon, half marathon and 5K with post-race refreshments after their accomplishment to help in their recovery. They will also be on-site at the 3-Day SLO Life Expo to sell their delicious products to family, friends and spectators of the races.

Working with Team In Training, the fundraising training program for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and official beneficiary of the SLO Marathon + Half, Linda and Jeff Olds formed “Team Jamba” to encourage and engage their employees and customers to participate in the event, train for a cause and help put an end to blood cancers. “Team Jamba” will be at the Marathon weekend in full force, running, walking and volunteering. On January 23, 2012, Team In Training will be holding an information meeting at the Jamba Juice location on Marsh Street in San Luis Obispo at 3 p.m. where interested competitors can sign up for Team Jamba.

“The first people that we thought to approach for this event were Linda and Jeff Olds,” says Heather Hellman, SLO Marathon Event Director. “It’s a point of pride in the community that Jamba Juice started here and that the products they sell contribute to a healthy lifestyle. “Team Jamba” is such a great way to train for our event and, as Linda and myself are TNT Alumni, we know how valuable training for a cause can be in helping to motivate and inspire an athlete. We’re proud to partner with our local Jamba Juice stores to make this event memorable for our participating athletes.”
